LEADERSHIP AND TEAMWORK

Tom Valente, Global Academy president, has been at the forefront of creative educational design and event management and production for over 25 years. As a principal of the Omega Institute, he helped grow the Institute into one of the largest US organizations for holistic and human potential education. This included the design, development and production of numerous educational events in Europe, the Americas, and Asia. Tom Valente also consults on transformational education to organizations and businesses and his portfolio includes National Public Radio, University of Massachusetts, Young Presidents Organization, Elderhostel, UNDP, the Foreign Ministry of Panama and the Summit of Ibero-American Governments. Walter Link, Global Academy chairman, was a partner of a Euro-Asian industrial group that included partnerships and joint-ventures with leading European and American corporations, including Carrier, Merck and Siemens. He is deeply involved in the international movement to promote Corporate Social and Environmental Responsibility. In this capacity, he co-founded EMPRESA, the leading alliance for corporate responsibility in the Americas, and the Social Venture Network Europe, of which Walter Link was also chairman of the board. Mr. Link also acts as a strategic advisor and board member of many organizations, including Naropa University, Greyston Foundation, and the Centre for Integrated Healing. (More...)

L. Hunter Lovins, Director of the Global Academy's Natural Capitalism Academy, is a world-recognized expert in the energy and sustainability communities, having worked on these issues since 1965. Originally trained as a lawyer, Lovins co-founded the California Conservation Project (Tree People), and subsequently the Rocky Mountain Institute, which she led for 20 years. Hunter has lectured extensively, including at the World Economic Forum at Davos, the International Symposium on Sustainable Development in Shanghai, and the Global Economic Forum in Washington D.C. Lovins’ areas of expertise include sustainable development, energy and resource policy, economic development, climate change, land management, and fire rescue and emergency medicine. She has co-authored nine books including Natural Capitalism. (More...)
